Safe Streets for Sasha

Sasha Rosen was a seventeen year old son, cousin, nephew, and beloved friend. He was a goofy, music loving, video game playing, baggy pants wearing, espresso drinking high school senior who could talk equally about rap music and U.S. politics.

His life was senselessly taken by an act of traffic violence.

We Honor Sasha Through Action

1. Speak

No child should be killed crossing the street to catch the school bus.

The Madison Transportation Commission needs to hear your voice about safety concerns on Park Street. Our goal is to have 5 people speak at each bi-weekly meeting throughout 2026. Once registered, you would have three minutes to speak. Click here for more details on signing up.

2. Write

Your words matter.

Find a sample message here that you can use to advocate for safety measures to end violence. The same message can be shared with the Mayor's Office, your Common Council Alder, your municipal leaders (Mayor, City Council, Neighborhood Commissioner, etc.) WI DOT Div of Transportation System (Park St is a state road).

3. Request

When safe speed limits enforced, lives are saved.

Submit requests for safety improvements on Park Street here. Please prioritize 'traffic signals' and 'speeding issues'.

4. Commit

Make a personal commitment to drive safely.

Remind those around you to practice safe and responsible driving habits.

We also encourage donations in Sasha's name to any organization working to end traffic violence.
